This paper investigates the relationship between economic growth and environmental degradation. It continues to outline the current position of the UK Government and how the Government intends to solve this problematic relationship. Moreover, the appropriateness of the UK Government’s position is discussed on background of Intergovernmental Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations. The paper further discusses the question whether environmental management tools represent useful tools to take environmental impacts into account of economic decision-making processes.
